ANTIQUE FRENCH EARTHENWARE YELLOW MUSTARD GLAZE PITCHER CONFIT POT POTTERY 19 Th. This pitcher, dating from the middle of the 19th century, called "toupin" in Provence is made of yellow enamelled terracotta. It was formerly used to keep and serve hot drinks: it was placed before the fire of the fireplace, which explains why the side is browned by the heat of the fire.
Note the pretty rounded handle shaped by hand. This pot has a truly wonderful and warm time-earned patina. Pitcher presents well and is in very good antique condition, with wear and patina commensurate with age. There are minor manufacturing flaws, a few chips, and glaze skips.
