This is an antique desk seal from a grand home for putting seals on the back of letters and documents made from gilt bronze formed in the shape of an eagle. It is signed Marionnet near the base. The matrix has the initials HJ engraved into it. This is made by Albert Marionnet 1852 - 1910. In collectable condition with normal signs of age and use wear.

There are some impact marks and scuffs on the matrix which would effect the seal's print. It looks like someone has maybe used the weight of the seal to do something else with at some time..

Not the purpose it was made for. There is also some wear on the gilding in places. Please see all pictures provided for more details and visual confirmation of condition. 90mm or 3 and 1/2 inches tall. It weighs 211.6 grams.
